Links to Websites that Mrs. Murphy has given Students
www.chipublib.org - This is the website for the Chicago Public Library. Students should have their own library card so that they may become responsible with their own books. On this website you can put books on hold and have them sent to the Mt. Greenwood branch (handy for Book Adventure books). You can also renew materials that you need to keep longer. You can also download media such as audiobooks and music for free from the library.
http://access.gale.com/cps - These are free databases with valid & reliable resource for student research and inquiry.
Add the App to your Apple or Android accessory
If you have trouble with the link try this one:
http://www.cps.edu/Pages/StudentresourcesElementarydatabasesandwebresources.aspx
http://www.bibme.org/ - guides for creating bibliographies or work cited pages - free to signup. You can automatically or manually create a citation. Also, includes a citation guide for reference - we use APA style formatting.
One of the best resources you can use are our Library Databases.
The information contained within the databases has been reviewed by experts and can be trusted as reliable sources.
Go to
http://www2.youseemore.com/cps/default.asp
Next click on "library databases" on the left
Then select whichever database fits the person you are researching.
I suggest starting with "Britannica Online" because an encyclopedia will give you a good base of general information.
Some other databases that will come in handy:
"Library of Congress"
"History Makers"
"Student Resource Center"
Another great place to find resources is the Chicago Public Library.

You can also access their databases online from anywhere with an internet connection as long as you have your library card number handy.
They have sources like:
"American National Biography"
"Biography in Context" - which is a special Teen Pick
There are also various Websites you can use like:
"Biographical Dictionary"

"Biography.Com"

"Time Magazine Top 100 People"
http://time100.time.com/
"Academy of Achievement"
